چکیده
Objectives: To determine the strength and swelling behavior of black cotton soil (expansive soil) using a shredded rubber tyre as an additive. Methods: Series unconfined compressive California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests were carried out on mixed with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% tyres, results compared untreated samples. The study also investigated influence characteristics by performing pressure test. Findings: From experimental results, it is inferred that optimum addition 10% can effectively improve soil. stabilized increased 32 % 49.3% respectively to An illustration presented shows effect CBR in terms reduction 18% pavement thickness. This may reduce total cost project. present potential Black found be decreased 33.33% for Novelty: use expansive its value, leading Hence, lead further Also, disposal problem waste tyres resolved up certain extent. Black Cotton Soil Modification by the Application of Waste Materials
The black cotton soil is a type of problematic expansive soil which causes many problems in the construction of structures founded on them. It is having a swelling and impervious nature with poor geotechnical subgrade characteristics. In this research an approach is made towards the way of improvement in the various geotechnical properties of black cotton soil such as index properties, swelling...

متن کاملStudy On Waste Tyre Rubber As Concrete Aggregates
At present the disposal of waste tyres is becoming a major waste management problem in the world. It is estimated that 1.2 billions of waste tyre rubber produced globally per year. It is estimated that 11% of post consumer tyres are exported and 27% are sent to landfill, stockpiled or dumped illegally and only 4% is used for civil engineering projects. Hence efforts have been taken to identify ...
متن کاملA Study on the Effects of Waste Rubber Tire Dimensions on Fine-Grained Soil Behavior
Mashhad city is located on alluvial deposits where the expanded area of this city, especially the central and eastern areas surrounding Imam Reza holy shrine, are built on weak and fine-grained deposits. Therefore, the soil improvement would be inevitable due to construction of high-rise buildings such as hotels and commercial complexes in these areas, as well as restructuring old buildin...
متن کاملCatalytic Pyrolysis of Waste Tyre Rubber into Hydrocarbons Via Base Catalysts
The waste tyres represent a source of energy and valuable hydrocarbon products. Waste tyres were pyrolysed catalytically in a batch reactor under atmospheric pressure. The effects of basic catalysts (MgO and CaCO3) were studied on the pyrolysis products. The distribution ratio of gas, liquid and char with MgO and CaCO3 were 24.4:39.8:35.8 wt % and 32.5:32.2:35.2 wt % r...
